gold checkmarkOUTSIDE VISUAL CHECK:

1. All Switches --- OFF
2. Pitot Cover --- OFF - Check Drain Holes
3. Nose Hatch and Gun Cowling --- Looked
4. Nose Wheel:
- a. Snubbing Yoke --- All Bolts in and Safetied (scissors)
- b. Strut --- Properly Extended (3 to 4 Inches)
- c. Tire - (Condition, Inflated, No Slippage, Valve Stem, Ground)
- d. Check Wheel Arm for Cracks
- e. Shimmy Dampner -- Leaks and Secure
- f. Nose-Wheel Actuating Cylinder - leaks, etc
- g. Check Inspection Slot for Locking Pin in Place
- h. Down Lock - Removed
- i. Uplatch Assembly - Free
- j. Nose Wheel Door Actuating Cylinder - No Leaks
- k. Nose Doors - Secure
- l. Check Wheel Well
- m. Hydraulic Lines -- No Leaks
- n. Anti Icing Valve Safetied off
5. Left Engine Assembly:
- a. Right Side Engine Cmling - Fasteners - Locked Inside Check Pins in Locked Position - Intake Leaks
- b. Exhaust Stacks - No Cracks - Tight
- c. Prop Pulled Through -- 12 Blades if not Pre-flighted
- d. Prop for Nicks and Dome Safetied
- e. Ignition wires and Oil leaks
- f. Left Side of Engine Cowling - Fasteners Locked Inside - Check Pins in Locked Position - Intake leaks - Same as a.
6. Left Wing:
- a. Leading Edge - No Dents or Breaks
- b. Wing Light - Up
- c. Wing Tips and Navigation Light - No Dents or Breaks
- d. Aileron - No Breaks in Fabric
- e. Flaps - No Wear or Strain
- f. Check Trim
7. Left wheel Well-
- a. Tire - No Slippage, Good Condition, Inflated, Valve Stem
- b. Micro Switch
- c. Oleo Strut - Properly Inflated (2 to 4 Inches), No Cracks or Hydraulic Leaks
- d. Check 'Y' Connection Fuel Overflow for Leaks
- e. Inside Wheel Well - No Leaks
- f. Down Lock Pin - Removed
- g. Down Lock - Free, Proper Overlap - Check Micro Safety switch
- h. Gas Leak Around Liquidometer
- i. Battery - Connection Tight and No Over Flow Battery Jar
- j. Canvas Curtain - Snapped Shut and Items Secure
- k. Check CO2 Cylinder
8. Rear Fuselage:
- a. Lower Turret - Guns Locked Aft Position
- b. Static Source - Free from Dirt and Water
9. Tail:
- a. Horizontal Stab - No Cracks or Dents
- b. Elevator - No Breaks in Fabric - Tab Neutral
- c. Vertical Stab - No Breaks or Dents
- d. Rudder - No Cracks or Dents
10. Right Rear Fuselage:
- a. Static Source - Free from Dirt and Water
- b. Camera Door Shut and Locked
- c. Radar Door - IFF ON, every thing Secure
11. Bomb Bay Checks
- a. Gun Platform
- b. Bomb Bay Door Looking Pins - Removed
- c. Bomb Shackles
- d. Flap Motor - No Rubbing or Chaffing of Flap Rod
- e. Bomb Bay Tank - No Leaks
- f. Booster Pumps - Right end Left Aux - Bomb Bay
- g. Bomb Bay actuating Cylinder and Hydraulic Lines No Leaks
12. Right Engine and Wings
- a. Same as Left Engine (In Reverse)
- b. Check Life Raft Pins - Safetied
13. 0n Top:
- a. Gas and Oil Covers Secure
- b. Top of Engine - Cowl Flaps and Exhaust Stacks
- c. Intake Duct Retaining Clamps
- d. Wing Guns - Covers Secure
- e. Top Aileron
- f. Antenna - Under Good Tension
- g. Gun Plates Locked
- h. Rear Compartment Hatch and Turret Cover Secure

1. Form 1 - A/C in Flyable Condition and Pre-flighted

3. Parachute and Safety Harness - On and Adjusted
4. Seat and Rudder Pedals - Adjusted
5. Hydraulic Reservoir - Normal Level
6. Emergency Hydraulic Reservoir - Full
7. Air Brake Bottle 450 PSI Minimum - 675 Normal
8. Vacuum Selector Right Engine
9. Check Over Head Panel - Switches Off
10. Battery Switches on Unless External Power is Used
11. Generator Switches On
12. Gun Switches - Off
13. Auto Pilot - Off
14. Inter-Valometer - Off and On Train
15. Hydraulic Selector Valve - On Syst
16. Trim Tabs - At or near neutral
17. Cross-Feed Bomb Bay Dual Selector - Off
18. Tank Selector - Main
19. Carburetor Heat - Full Cold
20. Landing Gear Control - Down and Locked
21. Flap Control - Neutral
22. Mixture Controls - Idle Cut - off
23. Prop Controls - Full Increase RPM
24. Throttle - 1/4 open
25. Booster Pumps - Off
26. Oil Cooler Switches - auto
27. Cowl Flaps - Open
28. Blowers - Low Blower
29. Control Lock - Unlocked and Check for Free Movement
30. Air Brake Lever - Safetied on "Release"
31. Parking Brake - On, Hydraulic Press Up
32. Manifold Pressure Drain - Off
33. Instrument Panel Check From Right to Left
34. Check Fuel quantity
35. Lower Panel Switches - OFF, IFF - On, Filter in Non Filter Position
36. Bomb Panel, All Switches off or Neutral
37. All Circuit Breakers - On
38. Inverter - Off
39. All Radio Switches - Off
40. Static Source - On Static Source

gold checkmarkSTARTING ENGINES:

1. Fire Guard - Standing Clear
2. Master Ignition - On
3. Right Booster Pump on High Then on low
4. Energize Right Engine - Approximately 10 seconds
5. Prime Right Engine - Note Drop in Fuel Pressure
6. Engage Right Engine (Continue to Energize)
7. Magneto Switch - On Both After 2 Rev
B. Continue to Prime until Engine Fires
9. Mixture Control - Auto Rich
10. Set Throttle - 1000 RPM
11. Oil Pressure - Indication within 30 seconds or Shut Engine Down
12. Right Booster Pump Off Left High Then On Low
13. Radio - On Tower Frequency
14. Bomb Bay Doors - Closed (Check Hydraulic Pressure)
15. Start left Engine in Same Manner

1. Set Gyros
2. Call Crew Members - All Stations
3. Call Tower - Set Altimeters.
4. Chocks Removed - Thumbs Up
5. Hydraulic Pressure - 1000 PSI
6. Taxi at 6 to 800 RPM

gold checkmarkENGINE RUN UP AND CHECKS:

1. Run Both Engines up at Once, Nose Wheel Straight
2. Idle Engines at 1000 RPM until:
- a. Oil Temp is 50 Degrees
- b. Oil Press is 50 to 80 PSI
- c. Cylinder Head Temp is 120 Degrees
3. Throttles - 1700 RPM
4. Prop Controls - Full Aft (Check for Drop to 1200 RPM)
5. Prop Controls - Full Forward (Check for Return to 1700 RM)
6. Feathering Buttons - Depress one at a time and Check for 200 RPM Drop
7. Ammeters - Check amperage During Feathering Check
8. Shirt Blower to High Blower Check Rise in Manifold Pressure and Drop in Oil Pressure
9. Increase Power to 30 Inches
10. Shift Blowers to Low Blower, Check Drop in Manifold Pressure and Oil Pressure
11. Make Power Check - 52 Inches
12. Check Mags at 30 Inches - 100 RPM Drop

1. Gas - On Main Tanks - Bomb Bay Off
2. Trim Tabs - As Desired
3. Carburetor Air - Full Cold
4. Flaps - 15 Degrees
5. Mixture Controls - Auto Rich
6. Props Controls - Full Increase
7. Booster Pumps - High Boost
8. Cowl Flaps - 1/2 Closed
9. Engine Instruments - Within Limits
10. Flight Instruments - Normal
- a. Gyro Compass - Set and Uncaged
- b. Artificial Horizon - Uncaged and Level
- c. Altimeter - Runway Elevation
- d. Vacuum Selector - Check on Both Engines
11. Check Canopy - Closed and Locked
12. Check Crew All Stations - Ready

1. Wheels Up
2. At 150 MPH, Power Back to 42 Inches
3. Props 2400 RPM
4. Flaps Up
5. Landing Gear, Flaps and Cowl Flaps Neutral

1. Check Horn
2. 2400 RPM
3. Power at 20 Inches
4. Slow to 180 MPH
5. Flaps at 10 Degrees
6. Slow to 150 MPH
7. Wheels Down - Just Before or Turning on Base
8. Check Visually (Watch Wheels Snap into Down and Locked, Cheek Nose Wheel, Indicator Lights, Hydraulic Pressure 1000 PSI and Gear Handle in the Down and Locked Position, Check Horn)
9. Use Power as Needed to Hold 150 MPH
10. Call Tower on Base, Gear in Green
11. Use Remaining Flaps (Up to 38 Degrees) on Final (Keep Hand on Flap Switch While Lowering)
12. Hold Power an Needed until Touchdown
13. On Landing Roll Put Full Flaps Down

1. Clear Runway
2. Run Engines up Until Generators Cut In
3. Flaps up to 15 Degrees
4. Props Full Forward
5. Cowl Flaps Open and Neutral
6. Booster Pumps Off
7. Neutralize Trim Tabs

1. Parking Brakes On
2. Idle Engines at 1000 RPM
3. Pull Right Throttle back to Stop
4. Allow RPM to Drop to Minimum Idle, Move Mixture to Idle Cut Off
5. Check for Excessive Rise of RPM when Mixture is Cut
6. Open Bomb Bay Doors and Check Hydraulic Pressure Back to Normal
7. Stop Left Engine as in 3 to 6
S. Radios Off
9. Magneto Switch Off
10. Battery and Generator Switches Off
11. All Switches Off
12. Controls Locked
13. Brakes Off When Chocks are in Place
14. Complete Form 1 and Replace Manuals
